Who can donate?

Everyone!

Is there a minimum gift?

Any amount is welcome but we are encouraging gifts of $25 or more.  YMCA staff must give at least $10 or more to count toward the Hirschler Fleischer Superhero Prize.

What payment methods are accepted?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, cash or checks (made out to YMCA).

Are gifts tax-deductible?

All donations are tax-deductible.

Can I make my donation over the phone?

Using your smartphone, you can donate online at www.ygiveday.org. If you do not have internet access, you are welcome to call any YMCA branch Welcome Center and give your credit card information over the phone.

Can I drop off my donation early?

Yes, donations can be dropped off at any YMCA Welcome Center before Y Give Day.  All early donations will be processed on May 23, 2017 and cannot be scheduled for a specific hour or time.

Will I receive a receipt for my donation?

Yes, you will receive an electronic tax receipt to the email address you provide unless you have chosen to remain fully anonymous.

How will the donations be reported on my credit card statement?

Donations will show on your credit card statement as being made to the YMCA. All donations will be transferred to the participating branch at the end of each processing period. Please be sure to use your e-receipt as a record of which branch and donation amount you made for tax purposes.

Are there any fees for donating via credit card?

For donations processed by credit card, Y Give Day has a 5% percent fee per donation for processing. However, donors may elect to "OPT IN" to help cover fees during checkout in order to lessen the fees paid by the Y. By selecting YES to cover the fees, your donation will be increased by 5% to help cover the fees.  This helps more money go directly to the branch.

Why should I give through the Y Give Day website versus directly to my branch?

Y Give Day www.ygiveday.org allows branches to win additional money from the $12,000 prize pool. Some of the prizes are based on total amount raised within a particular category.  Branches can also win prizes through random drawings just for participating. For a donation to count towards the total amount raised it must be made through the Y Give Day website at www.ygiveday.org  in the allotted time on May 23, 2017.

I missed Y Give Day — can I still make a donation?

Yes, you can make a gift at any YMCA Welcome Center or on the YMCA website www.family-ymca.org at any time, but only donations given on May 23, 2017 count toward the Branch’s total for incentivized prizes.

Is my payment information safe and secure?

Yes, the servers used to process your information are very secure and reliable. All transactions are made through an encrypted connection. Credit card transactions are secure, backed by a PCI Level 1 secure service provider certification.

What does Y Give Day do with donor information?

Y Give Day does not share or sell donor information to any other organization or third party, but does reserve the right to communicate with donors for the purpose of user surveys, newsletters, Y Give Day information and general education about philanthropy.

Can I make an anonymous donation?

Yes, when donors are ready to check out they may elect to be Partially Anonymous (donor's contact information and donation amount provided to organization for receipt purposes only; donor will be marked as not wanting to receive other communication/recognition) or Fully Anonymous (no donor contact information will be provided to the organization, only a dollar amount).

Can I make a gift "In Honor Of" or "In Memory Of" someone?

Yes, donors will have the option to make a gift "In Honor Of" or "In Memory Of" during checkout.

Can I designate a gift to a specific program?

Yes, donors will have the option to include this information in the Comments box during checkout.

How do I fix a mistake on a donation?

To fix a mistake on a donation, please contact Y Give Day at [email protected] Our staff will assist with answering questions as quickly as we are able and in the order in which they are received.

How do I get a receipt if I can't locate mine?

When you donate online, an e-receipt will automatically be generated from Y Give Day and emailed to the email address you have provided. If you can't find your e-receipt, please be sure to check your spam filter. If you still cannot locate your receipt, contact the Y Give Day team at [email protected] and they will work to locate an e-receipt to send a duplicate to you as soon as possible.
